I saw one of my friends writing his business plan in power point and thought “what the hell is going on over there?!?!?” I was judging. Hardcore judging. I was a business major and had always started my businesses with at least a somewhat formal written business plan. Then I tried it. BRILLIANT.
It is amazing because it keeps you succinct. Just like you don’t want 7,000 words on a PPT from a presenter, you aren’t going to write a powerpoint slide with 7,000 words. It’s a bit of a brain trick because although you know you are writing a plan, you see a powerpoint.
It’s easier to navigate. How many times have you written out a dumb long word document and then can’t find a damn thing in it?!??! Your only saving grace? CTRL + F because the document is a mess!!! Welp Power point alleviates that because there’s a nice little task bar along the side and you can just click through them. It’s also easy to reorder slides, a bonus to someone like me who writes things out very stream of consciousy and figures out order later.
It serves double duty. Last minute presentation opportunity pop up? Cool. You can use the whole damn deck, or copy a few slides and build from there. Stay ready. I am here for anything that keeps me from staring a blank screen.
