7 Things You MUST Include In Your Master Calendar

I LOVE my weekly calendar. It really is the GOAT. More on that later in the week. Here are the most important things I include in my master schedule:

1. Admin tasks

This is the bullshit you don’t want to do that keeps your business moving. Editing photos, tracking your stats, financials, organizing. If you don’t schedule time for it, you won’t do it. Either plan for it or pay someone to do it.

2. Time to execute

This was a lightbulb moment from a Mattieologie  webinar. It’s cute that you know you want to post 3 days a week. WHEN are you going to write those posts?!?!? That needs to be written on your schedule. Same for planning your social media automated sharing. Plan a day to schedule them all – it is not sufficient to say you want to do it.

3. Promote

When are you hopping on social? For certain social platforms, like twitter, it’s easy to remember to jump on everyday. I watch tv with twitter. I converse with my friends on twitter. Twitter is the OG homie. But for other platforms, I have to set aside time to log on. Not a lot of time, just enough to engage. I take public transportation to and from work so that’s a nice pocket of time to engage on pinterest or read articles from my feedly and share to my twitter. The thing is, it’s not necessarily a burdensome task, but one that will get lost if I don’t write it down somewhere.

4. Time to work on long term goals & learning

This is a big one that I just rearranged my schedule to incorporate. This is your forest time. I’ve told you before, I’m a tree person. I get super lost in day to day activities, but I have tons of long term goals. I noticed those goals were making it to a to do list, but I wasn’t making time to do them. In essence, my to do list was getting ever longer and my long term goals, ever further. If you want to write a book or learn something, set the time aside to work on it every week.

5. Time to catch up

This one is super important if you are working a day job. A good networking happy hour might pop up at the last minute. Are you not gonna go because of your schedule?!?! What about a date. Are you forsaking a potential new bae to make sure you share a post?!? I AIN’T. I leave the end of my week pretty light so I have time to catch up when the unexpected comes up.

6. Time to breathe

When I was in law school, I wrote this God awful schedule and I don’t even think I made it through a week on the schedule. I studied until 2am and woke up at 7. Sis WHAT?!?! I didin’t think at all about the fact that I had to FALL asleep. Not to mention I wasn’t actually retaining stuff at that hour!! I mean it was straight baaaasura (trash). A functional schedule will not last for you if you don’t include downtime.

7. Life Tasks

This goes hand and hand with #6. Include time to go to the gym, do your laundry, meal prep a couple times of week, grocery shopping, etc. YOU STILL HAVE TO DO THOSE THINGS (or hire someone if you real). Make time for them.

Schedules can be hard to stick to. Why not set yourself up for success by including all the things you need so you never have to go off course. What have you been neglecting in your schedule? Tell me in the comments!
